Growing the economy, creating jobs, and supporting communities. That’s how ExxonMobil Baton Rouge rolls.
Despite its status as the largest employer in the state of Louisiana, ExxonMobil Baton Rouge is not always recognized for its contributions to the local economy, schools and community. They brought us in to tell that story and increase its favorability among local communities and their leaders.
It might seem like it’s just one job, just one plant, or just one company. But the reality is that 1 in 10 jobs in East Baton Rouge parish can be traced back to ExxonMobil. ExxonMobil depends on the work of many other businesses to bring its operations to life. In turn, they supply the energy that powers those businesses — as well as countless other businesses that drive whole communities.
Everything that ExxonMobil does sparks a chain reaction that benefits the entire region. Once the ball gets rolling, it’s impossible to stop.
Red Six Media’s creative team evoked the illustrative imagery of a Rube Goldberg machine to metaphorically demonstrate the dynamic cause-and-effect of ExxonMobil in the community. We partnered with Tom Harold, a rolling ball sculpture artist based in Indianapolis to create custom sculptures for the campaign. We also collaborated with local creative Matt Callac to set up more than 4,500 dominoes and create custom figurines that were featured throughout the integrated ad campaign.
The flexibility of our design and messaging
allowed for impactful application to billboards,
print, social media, and events. We also created
an informative and interactive microsite –
featuring similar Rube Goldberg-style
animations – that highlighted the positive
impact ExxonMobil has made on the
community, the economy, and the education
opportunities in Baton Rouge.

The effectiveness and creativity of this award-winning campaign was recognized by ExxonMobil’s North American marketing team and inspired the development of their national campaign.
Since then, we’ve been proud of our years of great work with ExxonMobil — including our “Energy Goes Far” campaign, the design and theme for their 110-year anniversary event, and the “Here For Good” campaign for the centennial celebration of their operations in Baytown, TX.
